Question : Startup Enterprises

(a) whether the Government has recognized any Startup enterprises under its flagship programme;

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether any Startups from Bihar and Maharashtra have been recognized under the said programme; and

(d) if so, the details thereof district-wise and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India launched on 16th January 2016. The initiative aims at fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation by creating an ecosystem that is conducive to growth of Startups. Since, the launch of Startup India initiative, a total of 44,534 Startups have been recognized by DPIIT as on 24th February 2021. The States/UTs wise breakup of DPIIT recognized startups is at Annexure-I.

(c) & (d): As on 24th February 2021, a total of 693 Startups from Bihar and 8,327 Startups from Maharashtra have been recognized under the Startup India initiative by DPIIT. The district wise breakup of DPIIT recognized startups from Bihar and Maharashtra is at Annexure-II.
