Question : FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO NGOS



(a) the names of Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs) working for the Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation in various States including Tamil Nadu which received financial assistances alongwith grants provided to them under various schemes during the last three years State-wise and NGO-wise;

(b) whether some NGOs are found to be involved in irregularities; and

(c) if so, the names thereof alongwith the action taken against them ?

(a):- (i) Financial Assistance given to NGOs under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM) are as under:-

(ii) Under the Revised Guidelines of Integrated Low Cost Sanitization Scheme the onus of the selection of the NGO is and execution of the scheme is with the State Government. According to guidelines “the State should select NGOs having adequate experience in this field who will be funded maximum to the extent of 15% over and above the total project cost to be borne by the Central and States based on the ratio of 5:1 at different stages of implementation. A release of 1.5% of the project cost out of these earmarked funds of 15% has been made in respect of sanctioned projects to the respective State Governments. So far, no proposals have been sanctioned under the Scheme to the State Government of Tamil Nadu.
