Question : AIR STRIPS IN NORTH EAST REGION



(a) the number and names of Air Strips and their locations in North East Region;

(b) whether these Air Strips are operational; and

(c) if not, the steps taken to operationalise these Air Strips?

(a) :- Airports Authority of India (AAI) is maintaining four airports at Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Lilabari and Rupsi and three Civil Enclaves at Silchar, Jorhat and Tejpur in Assam; one airport at Passighat and four Civil Enclave at Along, Daparizo, Zero and Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh; Imphal airport at Manipur; Lengpui airport at Mizoram; Shillong airport at Meghalaya; Dimapur airport in Nagaland; and four airports at Agartala, Kamalpur, Kailashahar and Khowai in Tripura states. There is no airport in the State of Sikkim.

(b) :- Airports at Rupsi, Passighat, Kamalpur, Kailashahar, Khowai, and Civil Enclaves at Along, Daparizo, Zero, Tezu are non-operational.

(c) :- Since no Airline has requested for operation of civil flights from these airstrips, AAI has no proposal to operationalise the non-operational airstrips.
