Question : Polavaram Project

(a) whether Polavaram Project Authority has started functioning in consultation with the State Government, if so, the details thereof along with success achieved so far in expediting/executing the Polavaram Project and if not, the reasons therefor;

(b) the quantum of funds requested by the State Government for the year 2015- 16 and released by the Union Government for the project so far; and

(c) the time schedule fixed for completion and implementation of the project along with steps taken/to be taken to expedite it?

(a) Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) has started functioning since January, 2015 at Hyderabad. The running contracts before the setting up of Polavaram Project Authority are being executed, handled by the State Government. The monthly progress report on physical and financial aspects is being submitted by the State Government to PPA. State Government has been advised that any changes in the physical, financial and contractual conditions in the existing contracts shall be taken up with the approval of PPA. So far four meetings of the Polavaram Project Authority have been held. The State Government is represented in the Authority. Discussions are held on various administrative, technical and financial issues in the Authority meetings.

(b) Government of Andhra Pradesh has submitted a claim Qf reimbursement of Rs. 2218.00 Cr from Government of India during January, 2016. A sum of Rs. 100 Cr has been released to State Government during August 2015. A sum of Rs 300 Cr has been released to PPA during February, 2016 for releasing to State Government after following the procedure for such release;

(c) As per the current phasing of expenditure it is projected to be completed by March 2019. Efforts are being made to complete the project as per schedule.
