(a) whether the Government monitors the activities of land mafia;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of land mafias identified across the country during the last three years, State-wise; and
(d) the details of the action taken against them along with the outcome thereof?

(a) to (d): ‘Police’ and ‘Public Order’ as ‘land’ are State subjects under the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India and State Government are responsible for prevention, detection, registration and investigation of crime including land grabbing and other illegal activities by land mafias and for prosecuting the criminals through their law enforcement agencies. The Ministry of Home Affairs have issued advisories to States and UTs from time to time, to maintain law and order and ensure that any person who takes law into his/her own hand is punished promptly as per law. National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) does not maintain data relating to activities of land mafia.
