Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI SACHIN PILOT)

(a) to (c) TRAI in its recommendations on ‘’spectrum Management and Licensing Framework” dated 11th May 2010 had recommended that the 2G spectrum beyond contracted spectrum (viz 6.2 MHz for GSM and 5 MHz for CDMA) to be paid for at the ‘current price’. They further recommended that the 3G price be adopted as the ‘current price’ of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band and 1.3 times of ‘current price’ in 900 MHz band. Subsequently TRAI has informed this Ministry to await further recommendations on current pricing of spectrum in the 2G bands.
