Question : AIRPORTS UNDER AAI



(a) whether all airports in the country are under the control and supervision of the Airports Authority of India(AAI);

(b) if so, the details thereof and the area of supervision and control;

(c) if not, the airports which are under the control and supervision of authorities other than the AAI;

(d) whether the AAI has received specific complaints concerning Central Industrial Security Force;

(e) if so, the details thereof ; and

(f) the action taken by the Government on all these complaints?

(a), (b) & (c): All the airports in the country are not under the control of Airports Authority of India (AAI). AAI manages 96 airports comprising 8 international airports, 49 domestic airports, 8 customs airports and 31 non-operational airports. Three international airports namely Delhi, Mumbai and Nagpur have been handed over to Joint Venture Companies for operation, management and development. In addition, AAI also manages 3 international civil enclaves, 4 civil enclaves with custom facility and 19 domestic civil enclaves at Defence airports.

At airports which are owned and managed by AAI, AAI provides airport services as well as CNS-ATM services. In respect of the Joint Venture airports at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Cochin, AAI only provides CNS-ATM services. In respect of Civil Enclaves, civil operations are handled by AAI and CNS-ATM services are provided by Navy/Air Force.
