(a) whether incidents of tree cutting by timber/forest mafia are increasing in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the provision/rules regarding cutting of trees;
(c) the number of times the said provisions have been violated during the last three years, State-wise; and
(d) the action taken by the Government regarding the said violations during the last three years?

(a) & (b) The Ministry has not received any specific information/ report stating that incidents of tree cutting by timber/ forest mafia are increasing in the country. The cutting of trees are regulated by the provisions of extant acts of the Centre and the concerned State/ UT Governments and rules & regulations made there-under.
(c) & (d) The State-wise information on number of times the said provisions have been violated is not maintained at the level of this Ministry.
