Question : Surveys under Indian Bridge Management System

(a) whether any survey under Indian Bridge Management System for North Eastern States including Assam is pending with the Government;

(b) if so, the details and present status thereof;

(c) whether the Government has formed any task force to promote better management and strong structure of bridges in Assam; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (b) Ministry has conducted inventory and condition survey of bridges on National Highways in India under Indian Bridge Management System. The inventory of all bridges has been carried out one time in a year and condition survey has been carried out twice in a year (pre monsoon and post monsoon). Inventory and condition survey data of bridges on National Highways in North Eastern States including Assam has been collected through the consultant from November, 2015 to till March, 2019.
(c) Government has not formed any specific task force to promote better management and strong structure of bridges in Assam. However, all bridges are kept in traffic worthy condition through repair, rehabilitation and reconstruction as assessed and required by field officials for better management of existing bridges based on regular inspection and monitoring so that safe and uninterrupted flow of vehicles can be ensured.
