Question : Corruption in CBI

(a) whether incidents of corruption have taken place/are taking place in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI);
(b) if so, the details in this regard for the last three years;
(c) the nature of the said incidents;
(d) various efforts made by the Government to check corruption in Central Bureau of Investigation; and
(e) the outcome of the said efforts?

(a) to (e): CBI has registered 19 Regular cases against CBI officers involving corruption charges [Prevention of Corruption Act] during the last three years i.e 2016,2017,2018 & 2019 (upto 30.06.2019).

CBI has a robust mechanism to deal with internal vigilance matters and complaints of corruption against its own officers. Concerted efforts are made to ensure probity amongst CBI officials.
