(a) whether recent studies conducted by United Kingdom and the
United Nations have revealed that the temperature rise/climate changes
will hit the crop production in the country badly as reported in various
newspapers recently ;
(b) if so, whether any assessment has been made by the government
in this regard ;

(a) No Sir, while it is true that the inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change
set up by the United Nations in its recent 4th Assessment Report contains
broad prediction on climate change and its likely impact on agriculture, these
are in the way of general observation without particular reference to India.
