Question : USE OF PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS AS FRANCHISE FOR DEGREE



(a) whether in the Month of May-June 2001 the UGC had issued strict directives that no university will be permitted to use another private institution as a franchise for its degree;

(b) if so, the details in this regard;

(c) the details of colleges which have violated the UGC norms in this regard; and

(d) the action taken against them?

(a) & (b): The University Grants Commission (UGC) in its meeting held on 22nd May, 2001 has decided that Universities may not be allowed to go for off-campus franchise.

(c) & (d): According to the information furnished by the UGC, no specific reference in this regard has been received in the Commission.
