Question : CONSTRUCTION OF HAJ HOUSES



(a) whether the Government has constructed Haj houses in the country particularly near Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the funds spent so far in the 11th & 12th Plan periods. Plan Wise?

(a): No, Madam.

(b): The Central Government has not constructed any Haj House in the country. There is a Haj House in Mumbai, which is a property of Haj Committee of India. Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee has constructed Haj House at Nampally, Hyderabad, Opposite Public Gardens, which is approximately 30 Kms away from Shamshabad Airport. Haj Committee of India has provided funds of Rs. 79.60 lakhs for the purpose and the remaining cost of construction has been borne by the Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee.

(c): Haj Committee of India has a scheme to provide financial assistance amounting to one third (1/3) of the total cost of the project or Rs.1.50 crore, whichever is less, to State Haj Committees for construction of Haj Houses in the States.
