(a) whether the Government has laid down a roadmap for the use of hydrogen energy and fuel cell technology in the country, if so, the details thereof; and
(b) whether any steering committee has been formed for the said purpose, if so, the details thereof?

(a): Yes, Madam. A National Hydrogen Energy Roadmap was prepared in October, 2005 with involvement of all the stakeholders. The Roadmap provided the pathways for expanding hydrogen energy and fuel cell related activities by supporting Research, Development and Demonstration projects in the country, including promotion of the technologies for transport and power generation sectors. The Roadmap also identified 8 Mission Mode Projects to be implemented in the country.
(b): Yes, Madam. A Steering Committee on Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cells was constituted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, the then Member (Science) Planning Commission, Government of India in May, 2012 to advise the Ministry and to steer the activities of hydrogen energy and fuel cells in the country. The Steering Committee comprised of representatives from the concerned Ministries/Departments; experts from the academic institutions and research organisations and industry. The Steering Committee has concluded its deliberations in a meeting held on 29th June, 2016.
