Question : FIRE IN GANDHAR OIL WELL



(a) whether any committee has been set up to look into the Gandhar oil well fire incident in Gujarat;

(b) if so, whether the Committee has submitted its report to the Government;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the time by which the report is likely to be submitted to the Government?

(a) to (d) : The Government have constituted a Committee headed by Major General (Retd.) S. C. N. Jatar to inquire into the matter after the incident of a fire at Well No. G-345, in Gandhar field of ONGC. The Committee has submitted its interim report to the Government on 30.01.2002. The Committee thereafter, has also submitted the second and third volume of the report on 29.03.2002 to the Government on Gandhar field, Ankleshwar Assets and on Western Offshore, Mumbai Region of ONGC. The term of the Committee has been extended upto 31.05.2002 to submit the final report to the Government.
