(a) Since its inception on 20th May, 2009, the Competition Appellate
Tribunal (CAT) has received 36 appeals against decisions of the Competition
Commission of India. CAT functions out of New Delhi and has no benches outside.
(b) CAT has disposed of 24 appeals till the end of July, 2011. In addition,
CAT disposed of 1426 cases out of 1825 cases of the erstwhile Monopolies
Restrictive Trade Practices Commission, which were transferred to the CAT.
Out of these 1426 disposed cases, 114 cases have been restored on review
applications.
