Question : Construction of Multipurpose Cultural Complexes

(a) the criteria for construction of Multipurpose Cultural Complexes;

(b) the details of such complexes set up in the country, State/UT-wise;

(c) the amount of funds utilised for the purpose, complex-wise;

(d) whether the Government has received proposals from the various State Governments for setting up of multipurpose cultural complexes in the country; and

(e) if so, the details thereof, State-wise along with the number of proposals pending with the Government, State-wise including Maharashtra and the time by which the said proposals are likely to be cleared?

(a) The Scheme for setting up of Multi-purpose Cultural Complexes was discontinued with effect from 01.04.2007 and revamped and re-introduced as Tagore Cultural Complexes (TCC) Scheme. Under the existing Scheme of TCC, financial assistance is provided to the State Governments/UT administrations, Bodies set up or sponsored by State Governments/UT Administrations or organizations under it; Universities, Municipal Corporations and other Government approved agencies and reputed not-for-profit organizations for setting up new TCCs of varying scales and upgradation; and for modernization and renovation of existing Tagore Auditoria/Cultural complexes etc. on matching share basis of 60%:40% between Centre and the grantee. Financial assistance under the Scheme for any project will normally be up to a maximum of Rs.15 crore.

(b) & (c) The details of such complexes State/UT-wise under the existing TCC Scheme in which the fund sanctioned during the last three financial years are attached as per Annexure-I.

(d) & (e) The State-wise number of proposals received during the last three financial years are attached as per Annexure-II.

As on date, no proposal is lying pending on part of this Ministry.
