Question : INFORMATION SYSTEM AT THE AIRPORTS



(a) whether the increase in the number of private aircrafts has increased the work load of Air Traffic Control System leading to the failure of Airports Authority of India in displaying the information about the landing of aircraft thereby causing difficulties to the passengers;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the efforts made/proposed to be made for an effective information and service centres at the Airports?

(a) & (b) Air Traffic Control Systems are capable of handling the increased air traffic.

(c) The flight information to the passengers is provided through Flight Information Display System (FIDS).At present,this facility is provided at 26 airports.Taking cognizance of the increase in the number of flights,Airports Authority of India (AAI) has augmented the capacity of such systems at 10 airports.
