Question : Cash Transfers under Poshan Abhiyaan


(a) whether the pilot programme for cash transfers under Poshan Abhiyaan to pregnant/lactating mothers as well as children between the age of six months to three years has been initiated;
(b) if so, the list of names of districts where the pilot programme is being implemented, State-wise; and
(c) the details of amount disbursed under the said pilot programme so far?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 372 FOR ANSWER ON 13.12.2019 BY SHRI RAVIKUMAR D. AND SHRIMATI APARAJITA SARANGI REGARDING CASH TRANSFERS UNDER POSHAN ABHIYAAN.

(a) to (c) The matter regarding introduction of Conditional Cash Transfer in lieu of Take Home Ration was discussed and reviewed during the meetings of the National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges held under the Chairmanship of Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog. During the 3rd meeting of the National Council held on 14th November, 2018, it was inter-alia decided that Pilot on Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) in lieu of Take Home Ration be implemented in few blocks of two districts each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. A Committee under the Chairmanship of Member, Health & Nutrition, NITI Aayog has been constituted for deciding the parameters and operational modalities of CCT in lieu of Take-Home Ration. Two blocks in each of two districts of Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow and Sitapur) and Rajasthan (Ajmer and Jaipur) were identified by the State for the pilot. The matter was further deliberated upon in the meeting of National Council on India’s Nutrition Challenges held on 10th October, 2019.
