Question : RESERVATION IN PRIVATE SECTOR



(a) Whether the Government has held any consultation with Big Business Houses alongwith CII, ASSOCHEM, FICCI and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry for extending reservation policy in the Private Sector;

(a) If so, the response from the Big Business Houses in this regard;

(b) Whether the Government has formulated any concrete opinion on the basis of views expressed by the Indian Corporates and Industrial Houses;

(c) If so, the details thereof; and

(d)The time by which the final decision to implement reservation in the Private Sector is likely to be taken?

(a) to (e) According to the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP), the Government has to initiate a National Dialogue with political parties, industry and other organizations to see how best the private sector can fulfill the aspiration of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe youth. Accordingly, Associations of trade and industry have been addressed. The response of the private sector has on the whole been positive regarding affirmative action. Regional consultations with industry associations will be held soon by the Group of Ministers constituted for the purpose.
