(a) whether the Government has received proposals from various State Governments to provide Smoke Meters and Gas Analysers;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which the Smoke Meters and Gas Analysers are likely to be provided to the State Governments?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has received proposals for providing 275 gas analyzers and 275 smoke meters from twenty-one States/UTs.
(c) Ministry has placed work order on 28th November, 2014 for supply of 275 gas analyzers and 275 smoke meters with M/s Indus Scientific Private Limited and M/s Manatec Electronics Pvt Ltd respectively.As per the terms and conditions stipulated in the work order, the firms have to deliver the equipments within three months from the date of placement of order.
