Question : HANDING OVER OF ARALAM FARM TO KERALA



(a) whether the Union Government have decided to hand over the `Aralam Farm` to the Kerala State;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)&(b) The Government of Kerala has offered to take over the Central State Farm, Aralam from the Government of India at a mutually agreed cost in order to utilise half of its land for resettlement of tribals and to operate the remaining land as a farm. The State Government has agreed to absorb the workers/employees after providing Voluntary Retirement to such of them as may be necessary to ensure that the farm is run as a viable economic unit.
