Question : Strengthening of MSMEs

(a) whether Government had announced some measures to strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the last Budget;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the extent to which these measures have actually been proved to be beneficial to the MSME sector; and

(d) whether these measures have provided employment opportunities and if so, the details thereof?

(a): Yes, Madam.

(b): In the last Budget, several initiatives aimed at development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector were announced and these include credit support, capital and interest subsidy; reduced Corporate tax to companies; employment generation; incentivizing employment of more women in the formal sector; improving financing of MSMEs’ capital requirement etc.

(c) & (d): These budget initiatives benefitted Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in terms of access to finance, technology, market etc. and creation of conducive overall ecosystem for MSMEs. Schemes of the Ministry of MSME such as Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Scheme for promotion of Khadi and Village Industries and Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) have paved the way for generation of employment opportunities.
