Question : Pre-Matric-Post-Matric Scholarship

the details of funds sanctioned/ released and utilized under Pre-Matric Scholarship/Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes for ST students during each of the last three years and the current year, State/ UT-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to enhance these scholarship amounts being provided under the scheme;
(c) whether from the years 2014-15 to 2017-18, no funds have been released to the States of Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal under the Scheme and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the funds have not been released to States of Karnataka, Meghalaya and UT of Daman and Diu during the years 2014-15 to 2016-17 and even the grants for North- Eastern States have not been released for two consecutive years;
(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(f) the details of the amount was distributed to how many students during that academic year?

(a) The details of funds sanctioned/released and utilised under Pre and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes for Scheduled Tribe students during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and year-wise are as per Annexure-I & II respectively.

(b) Proposal to increase the scholarship amount under Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for ST students from the existing Rs.150/- to Rs.225/- per month for Day Scholars, and from Rs.350/- to Rs.525/- per month for Hostellers has been submitted for approval of the Competent Authority.

(c) to (e): Funds could not be released to certain States/UTs during the previous years since detailed proposal along with required documents such as utilisation certificate, statement of expenditure were not furnished by these States/UTs. Details as per Annexure-I & II.

(f) As per the data received from respective State Governments/ UT Administration the year-wise details of beneficiaries from 2014-15 to 2016-17 are at Annexure-III.
