(a) whether voluntary organisations/Non Governmental Organisations have received foreign
contributions in the field of rural development in Gujarat during the last
three years;
(b) if so, the details in this regard for the said period; and
(c) the role of Union Government and the donor countries with regard to the
MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SUBHASH MAHARIA)
(a) & (b) As per information receivedfrom the Ministry of Home Affairs, the voluntary organisations in Gujarat have reported
receipt of foreign contribution amounting to Rs.937.51 lakhs during 1997-98 and
Rs.1609.98 lakhs during 1998-99 for the purpose of rural development under the provisions of the
Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.  The data for the year
1999-2000 is under compilation.
(c): Associations which arecovered under the Act are required to furnish intimation in regard to receipt
and utilisation of foreign contribution by them, on yearly
basis, duly certified by a Chartered Accountant, to the Ministry of Home
Affairs. The monitoring of foreign contribution is done through the
returns submitted by such associations.
