Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STEEL (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN)

(a) As per the classification(grouping) of Seismic Zones by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Plants are located in low intensity zone (Zone II) / moderate intensity Zone (Zone III). Further, no area/location of SAIL Steel Plants has been declared/notified as “Dangerous Zone” by the Government.

(b)&(c): Some houses, constructed for the employees of Bhilai Steel Plant under Steel Authority of India Limited, are under illegal possession. Even though no “dangerous zone” has been declared by the State Government of Chhattisgarh as regards the old houses in townships of Bhilai Steel Plant of SAIL, units declared unfit due to structural problems are monitored for necessary action by SAIL e.g. by demolishing such unfit houses and by ensuring their vacation etc.
