Question : Indian Pharma Export

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware that Indian pharma exports are declining in the last two years due to shortfall of raw materials and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has advised the pharma companies to manufacture indegenously substantial raw materials used for drugs manufacturing;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor along with the steps being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): As per information compiled by Pharmexil, pharma exports have increased during last three years as detailed below:

Year 2013-14 2014-15 2015-16
Increase percentage 13.8 4.4 17

(b) & (c): With a view to ensure better quality of Active Pharmaceuticals ingredients, the Government encourages domestic manufacturing of bulk drugs/raw material.
