Question : Mid Day Meal in Kerala

(a) whether the Government is aware of the implementation of mid day meal project in
pre and upper primary schools in Kerala;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has sanctioned any amount to provide mid day meal for
school children in Kerala;
(d) if so, the details of funds released during the last three years and if not, the reasons
therefor; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): The National Programme of Mid-Day Meal in Schools, popularly known as the
Mid-Day Meal Scheme, is an on-going Centrally-Sponsored Scheme which covers all
school children studying in Classes I-VIII of Government, Government-Aided
Schools, Special Training Centres including Madarsas and Maqtabs supported under
Samagra Shiksha. In Kerala, mid-day meal is provided to all the eligible children in
Classes I-VIII under the scheme. Mid-day meal is also provided to pre-primary
children with the resources of State Government.
(c) to (e): The details of funds released during the last three years to State Government of
Kerala under the Scheme is as follows:
