Question : SAFETY TO STAFF OF INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION IN PAK



(a) the number of cases during the last five years in which Staff of Indian High Commission in Pakistan have been insulted/assaulted;

(b) the number of persons of India High Commission in Pakistan who were declared `Persona Non Grata` and sent back to India during the above mentioned period; and

(c) the steps the Government propose to take to ensure the safety of Indian High Commission staff in Pakistan?

(a) During the last five years (since 1995), there have been 8 cases of assault of officials of our High Commission in Pakistan.

(b) During the same period, 16 officials of our High Commission in Pakistan were called back consequent upon Pakistan`s request that they be withdrawn.

(c) Pakistan has, time and again, been reminded of its obligations under the Vienna Convention as well as the Bilateral Code of Conduct. It has been called upon to discharge its responsibilities to ensure the safety and security of all personnel of the High Commission of India in Islamabad.
