Question : Bharatmala Pariyojana

(a) the extent to which the Government has achieved the objectives of Bharatmala Pariyojana in the country so far;
(b) whether the Government has conducted any study to ascertain the impact of the said pariyojana on strengthening of border and coastal road networks in the country;
(c) if so, the details and outcome thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the details of the budgetary allocation and utilization thereof under the said pariyojana since its inception in the country particularly in Karnataka?

(a) Out of the total length of 34,800 kms including 10,000 kms of residual NHDP projects approved to be developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I, projects for a length of about 19,363 km have been awarded up to January, 2022.



(b) & (c) Detailed study of the freight movement between all districts has been conducted along with geo-informatics inputs. Various routes have been identified for development of infrastructure along border and coastal roads to boost export and import trade along with port connectivity routes to improve the efficiency of freight movement to the ports and coastal zones in the country. As such, a total length of about 2,000 km for border and international connectivity roads and approximately 2,000 km of coastal and port connectivity roads have been considered for development under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I.

(d) Till now, projects with financial implication of approximately Rs. 6,00,255 crore for a length of 19,363 km have been awarded ( including projects for a length of 1,060 km with cost of Rs. 29,742 crore in the State of Karnataka).
