(a) whether any water arresting structures have been constructed across the main arm of Mahanadi and its major tributaries such as Seonath, Hasdeo etc. since the year 2010;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with their water use, capacity and purpose; and
(c) the current status of the construction of water arresting structures across the main arm of Mahanadi and its major tributaries?

(a) to (c) Mahanadi river originates in Dhamtari District, Chhattisgarh and falls in Bay of Bengal after flowing for 851 km. The major water resources project completed on Mahanadi in Chhattisgarh are Mahanadi Main Canal, Mahanadi Reservoir Complex , Tandula Irrigation Project , Pairy Project, Jonk Diversion Project and Hasedeo Bango Project and in Odisha are Hirakud Project and Mahanadi Delta-I & II Irrigation Project . Central Water Commission (CWC) under Ministry of Jal Shakti carries out only techno-economic appraisal of major (command area more than 10000 hectare) and medium (command area more than 2000 hectare and less than 10000 hectare) irrigation projects. The projects of Chhattisgarh accepted by Advisory Committee since 2010 are given at Annexure. Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal (MWDT) has been constituted on 12.3.2018. All projects planned for future on Mahanadi and their water use, capacity and purpose are subjudice now.
