Question : New Medical Equipment Park

(a) whether the Government is implementing the scheme for ‘Promotion of Medical Equipment Parks’ in the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up new Medical Equipment Parks in the country during the year, 2022-23;
(c) whether any proposal has been received from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha for setting up Medical Equipment Park in various districts including Sambalpur district in Odisha;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the decision taken by the Government thereon; and
(e) the details of funds allocated and released by the Government in this regard, State-wise including Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha?

Answer given by the minister

(a) and (b): The Department of Pharmaceuticals is implementing a Scheme for ‘Promotion of Medical Devices Parks’ with a total financial outlay of Rs. 400 crore for setting up common infrastructural facilities in medical devices parks to be set up in four States/ UTs, with maximum assistance for one Park limited to Rs. 100 crore. The tenure of the scheme is for the period 2020-2021 to 2024-2025. The details of the Scheme along with the Guidelines can be accessed at

(c) to (e): Department has received proposals from 16 States/UTs, but no proposal was received from the State Government of Odisha. The proposals were evaluated as per the criteria laid down in the scheme guidelines and final approval for financial assistance of Rs. 100 crore each has been given to the proposals received from the States of Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The first instalment of grant-in-aid of Rs.30 crore to the Government of Tamil Nadu and Rs.12 crore to State Government of Uttar Pradesh has already been released.
