Question : COMMITTEE FOR PSUS



(a) whether a committee has been constituted to make recommendations regarding sick industrial units of Public Sector;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has invited suggestion from various other committees in this regard during the last three years;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government has implemented these recommendations; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES & PUBLIC ENTERPRISES (SHRI ARUN YADAV)

(a) & (b): The Government constituted the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) in December, 2004 inter alia for revival/restructuring of sick and loss making Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

(c) & (d): Concerned administrative Ministries/Departments prepare enterprise specific revival package after consultation with ail stakeholders for consideration of BRPSE.

(e) & (f): The Board has given its recommendations in respect of 58 cases of CPSEs. Based on the recommendations of the BRPSE Government have approved revival of 36 CPSEs envisaging cash assistance of Rs. 2921 crores and non cash assistance of Rs. 12332 crores and closure of two CPSEs.
