Question : SUPPLY OF PESTICIDES

(a) the details of the supply of pesticides by the Government to various States incuding Maharashtra and Jharkhand during the last three years and the current year, State-wise;

(b) the details of the financial assistance provided by the Government to various States including Maharashtra and Jharkhand so as to provide essential pesticides to farmers at subsidized rate;

(c) the names of the manufacturers and suppliers from whom these pesticides are procured; and

(d) the manner in which the Government ensures sufficient supply of pesticides to the farmers of the country at subsidized rates?

(a) to (d): Central Government provides funds for interalia, procurement of pesticides under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and National Food Security Mission (NFSM). Under NFSM, financial assistance of Rs. 500 per ha or 50% of the cost whichever is less is provided for Integrated Pest Management including plant protection chemicals, bio-pesticides and weedicides in the identified districts. Data on supply of pesticides and name of manufacturers and suppliers of pesticides is maintained by State Governments.
