(a) whether there is any scheme for rain water harvesting in the
rural areas of the country,including Jharkhand State;
(b) whether the water-table is likely to rise and irrigation facilities
are likely to be increased in rural areas after sanctioning the said scheme; and
(c) if so, the State-wise details thereof?

(a) Central Ground Water Board under Ministry of Water Resources has implemented
demonstrative projects on rain water harvesting and artificial recharge to
ground water in the country including Jharkhand for replication under similar
hydrogeological environments by the State Governments.
(b) Impact assessment of demonstrative recharge projects implemented during
IX and X Plan periods has indicated rise in ground water levels locally, revival
of dried up dugwells, improvement in well yield, increase in cropped area etc.
(c) State wise details of impact assessments of IX and X Plan periods are
given in Annexure I and II respectively.
