Question : WORLD BANK ASSISTANCE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS



(a) whether the Government proposes to set up primary schools in the rural areas with the assistance of World Bank;

(b) if so,the details thereof;and

(c) the amount allocated for the purpose during each of the last three years including Gujarat, State-wise?

(a) & (b): Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA),a national flagship programme,is being implemented through out the country including rural areas under which inter-alia primary and upper primary schools are opened.2.61 lakh such schools have been opened under the programme,so far.The World Bank is partially funding the ongoing SSA programme.

(c): Government of India releases to States including Gujarat for the implementation of the SSA programme for the last 3 years is at Annexure.
