Question : Redevelopment of Railway Stations

(a) the current status of the redevelopment plan of railway stations in Karnataka and Maharashtra;

(b) the details of stations earmarked, funds allocated and progress achieved so far under the said plan;

(c) whether there is any plan to hand over the railway stations under Public Cooperation and Participation programme; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 536 BY SHRI ANNASAHEB SHANKAR JOLLE, DR. UMESH G. JADHAV, SHRI SHA.BRA.DR.JAI SIDDESHWAR SHIVACHARYA MAHASWAMIJI, SHRI L.S. TEJASVI SURYA AND SHRI SANGANNA AMARAPPA TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 20.07.2022 REGARDING REDEVELOPMENT OF RAILWAY STATIONS

(a) & (b): Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Railway Station has been developed and commissioned in the State of Karnataka.
Bangaluru Cantt. and Yashwantpur in the State of Karnataka and Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Nagpur and Ajni stations in the State of Maharashtra have been identified for major upgradation/redevelopment. Besides these, 04 stations in Karnataka and 22 stations in Maharashtra have been identified for techno economic feasibility studies. Based on the outcome of these techno economic feasibility studies, stations are planned to be taken up for development in phases.
An Umbrella work costing ?12,000 Cr has been sanctioned in Supplementary Budget 2021-22 and another Umbrella work costing ?5,500 Cr has also been sanctioned in Budget 2022-23 for development of stations across Indian Railways under Major Upgradation Scheme.
(c) & (d): Ministry of Railways is exploring various possibilities to develop Railway Stations under different models based on techno-economic feasibility studies including PPP model amongst them.
