Question : EMPLOYMENT ON ONE CRORE



(a) whether the Government have announced to provide employment to one crore unemployment persons every year;

(b) if so, the number of unemployed persons provided employment during the last two years as well as during the current year;

(c) whether the Government have recently considered to abolish the temporary posts and impose ten percent cut in the number of permanent posts in central Departments; and

(d) if so, the measures being taken by the Government to deal with the problem of unemployment?

a),b) & d) Government has set up a `task force on employment opportunities` to consider generation of employment for one crore persons in every for next ten years.
The terms and reference of the Task Force are

(i) To examine the existing employment and unemployment situation in the country.

(ii) To suggest strategies of employment generation for achieving the target of providing employment opportunities to 10 crore people over the next 10 years.

(iii) To consider any other matters related with or incidental to the above terms of reference.

c) Government had taken a decision in the past that a 10% cut would be effected in the number of sanctioned posts as on 1.1.92. The implementation of this decision is being monitored by the Department of Expenditure. In this decision, no distinction is made between temporary and permanent posts.
