THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND MINISTER OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION
(SHRI SHARAD PAWAR):
(a) The Ministry of Agriculture is implementing two Centrally Sponsored Schemes under
which assistance is being provided for the development of horticulture. The Schemes are:
(i) Macro Management in Agriculture-Supplementation/Complementation of State Efforts
through Work Plan. Under the Scheme, assistance is being provided for different aspects
of agricultural development including horticulture.
(ii) Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in North Eastern States
including Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Himacha! Pradesh and Uttaranchal (TMNE).
The details of allocation for horticulture sector under the Schemes for the last three
years and the current year is given in the enclosed statement-I and II.
(b) The allocation of funds under these schemes is based on the potential for
development of horticulture, available infrastructure and capacity with the State implementing
agencies and level of expenditure in the past.
(c) and (d) The Government has announced launching of a National Horticulture Mission
for dealing hoiisticaily with all aspects of horticulture development, namely research,
production and productivity, post harvest management, processing and marketing by adopting
an end to end approach.
