Question : VACANCIES FOR DISABLED PERSONS



(a) the number of vacancies in various Ministries and Departments of Government of India and its public sector undertakings that are earmarked/reserved for persons with disabilities during the last three years;

(b) the number of vacancies actually filled during the above period;

(c) the reasons for not filling up the vacancies; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to fill up all the vacant reserved posts by persons with disabilities?

(a) to (d): As per data obtained from various Central Government services which also include vacancies in Central Public Sector Undertakings, Nationalized Banks and Financial Institutions etc., there were 13,160 vacancies till April 2015, identified for persons with disabilities. This, inter-alia, included some backlog vacancies carried forwards from earlier years. Out of these 13,160 identified vacancies, 4,647 vacancies have been filled up and in addition, recruitment process has already been initiated for filling up 5,581 vacancies. In respect of balance 2932 vacancies, recruitment process is to be initiated. Government has issued appropriate instructions to all concerned to fill up the vacancies of persons with disabilities and is also monitoring the filling up of remaining unfilled vacancies, in a time bound manner.
