Question : OPENING OF KVS



(a) whether the Planning Commission has agreed to a proposal of his Ministry to go ahead for opening of 200 new Kendriya Vidyalayas during the next two and half years;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of the funds demanded by his Ministry and sanctioned by the Planning Commission;

(d) the time by which the Government has agreed to provide necessary funds for implementing the scheme; and

(e) the places where these schools are likely to be set up?

(a) & (b): Planning Commission have supported in principle a proposal for opening of 200 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) during the 11th Plan at various locations including metro cities, areas having sufficient concentration of defence or para- military forces and areas with high concentration of Central Government personnel.

(c) to (e): This Ministry has projected a requirement of Rs. 813.70 crore for this purpose during the 11th Plan. The exact locations of the Vidyalayas are to be decided based on the local demand and the viability of the individual proposals.
