(a) whether the Government has recognised any new spots for the development of tourism sector across the country during the last three years and the current year;

STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO*401 ANSWERED ON 23.03.2020 REGARDING RECOGNITION OF NEW TOURIST SPOTS.

(a) to (c): Identification of new tourism spots for development is primarily the responsibility of the concerned State Governments/Union Territory (UT) Administrations. The Ministry of Tourism, however, under the scheme of Swadesh Darshan provides financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations for development of tourism infrastructure in the country.

The projects under the scheme are identified for development in consultation with the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable Detailed Project Reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier.

The details of projects sanctioned under this scheme during the last three years and the current year is placed at Annexure.
