Question : AMRUT Scheme

(a) whether the Government is implementing Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation(AMRUT) in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the activities undertaken so far in all the cities under this scheme; and

(c) the details of funds sanctioned for the said projects, work/area-wise?

(a). Yes, Sir.

(b) and (c). The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to improve basic civic amenities viz. water supply, sewerage and septage management, storm water drainage, non-motorised urban transport and development of green spaces and parks was launched on 25 June 2015 in 500 selected cities across the country, including 44 cities of the State of Maharashtra and 61 cities of State of Uttar Pradesh. The Mission has been extended up to 31 March, 2021.

Under AMRUT, State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) amounting to ?7,759.32 crore, which includes committed Central Assistance of ?3,534.08 crore, have been approved for the State of Maharashtra for the entire Mission period. So far, State of Maharashtra has taken up 196 projects costing ?7,825.66 crore. Of which, 133 projects costing ?787.83 crore have been completed and 63 projects costing ?7,037.83 crore are under implementation.

Similarly, SAAPs amounting to ?11,421.67 crore, which includes committed Central Assistance of ?4,922.46 crore, have been approved for the State of Uttar Pradesh for the entire Mission period. So far, State of Uttar Pradesh has taken up 680 projects costing?11,602.74 crore, of which 167 projects costing ?1,047.55 crore have been completed, 458 projects costing ?9,572.05 crore are under implementation, while 55 projects costing ?983.14 crore are under tendering process.
Both the States of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have taken up projects in excess of their approved SAAP sizes and the entire excess cost shall be borne by the respective State Governments.

The city-wise and sector-wise details of projects taken up under the Mission by the States of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have been given at ANNEXURE – I and ANNEXURE – II respectively.
