Question : NEW PDS POLICY

(a) whether the Government intend to announce any new public distribution policy for earthquake affected areas of Gujarat; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) : No, Sir, Government does not intend to announce any new Public Distribution policy for earthquake affected areas of Gujarat. However, a quantity of 80,000 tonnes of wheat and 20,000 tonnes of rice has been allotted to Government of Gujarat as special additional allocation for distribution to families affected by the earthquake. Similarly, 10,000 tonnes of advance levy sugar has been allocated for distributron in the earthquake affected areas in Gujarat and an ad hoc allocation of 45,000 kilolitre of kerosene over and above the normal quota has been sanctioned to meet the situation arising out of earthquake.
