(a) The salient features of Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP):
(i). The project was funded jointly by Government of India (GoI), Global Environment Fund (GEF), the World Bank, United Nations Development Agency (UNDP), the cities of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Naya Raipur, Indore, Mysore & Hubli-Dharwad and their respective State Governments.
(ii). The project comprises Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Bus depot, Bus Shelters, Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) & driver training simulator in Hubli Dharwad; BRTS corridors in Pimpri- Chinchwad; Bus depot, Bus shelters, BRTS stations, ITS on BRTS, cycle track & pedestrian walkways in Naya Raipur; ITS on city buses, bus stops, platforms, bus terminals & driver training simulator in Mysore; and ITS on BRTS including Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS), Automatic Vehicle Location System in Indore.
(iii). The project also includes capacity building and technical assistance for urban transport related studies.
(iv). The estimated cost of the project was Rs. 740.58 crore.
(v). The external assistance for the loan was signed on 05th February, 2010, 12th August, 2013 & 25th February, 2015 and the project was closed on 31st March, 2018.
(b) Total financial assistance received by the Government under the SUTP through World Bank is Rs.649.26 crore.
(c)&(d) Projects under SUTP have been taken up in 5 cities. A statement indicating the implementing agencies and progress of the projects in respect of each city are as per the attached Annexure.
