Question : Revival of Closed Textile Mills

(a) whether the Government has formulated any plan to revive the six textile mills and a large number of cotton ginning factories that were operational in Ujjain that have now closed down with the time;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is planning to set up textile parks in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh in place of the said closed ginning factories and mills from the seven textile parks proposed in the Union Budget 2021;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): As per information with the Ministry, three Cotton and Manmade Fibre spinning mills viz. Bharat Commerce & Industries Limited, Binod Mills Co Ltd and Bimal Mills in Ujjain are presently closed. Hira Mill, Ujjain is one of the National Textile Corporation mills which was unviable and has been closed under Industrial Disputes Act as per Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) approved Revival Scheme. There is no plan for its revival.

(c) to (e): In the Union Budget 2021-22, it was announced that a scheme of Mega Investment Textile Park will be launched. Under the scheme, seven Mega Textile Parks will be set up in the country over next 3 years. Ministry of Textiles is in the process of obtaining approval of the Cabinet for the proposed Scheme.
