Question : Linking of MGNREGS with Farming Activities

(a) the funds allocated to the Government of Andhra Pradesh under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) by the Union Government during the last four years and the current year;

(b) whether the Union Government proposes to enhance/provide employment upto 150 days as against present dispensation of 100 days of work and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government also proposes to link MGNREGS with farming activities like paddy and wheat works so as to give fillip to farmers; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA) is a demand driven wage employment programme. Details of Central fund released to Andhra Pradesh under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during the last four years and current year are given below:

(b): On the recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, an additional employment of 50 days of wage employment under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA has been provided over and above 100 days per households in notified drought affected areas of 121 Mandals in 5 districts for Rabi 2018 and 296 Mandals in 6 districts for kharif 2018 of Andhra Pradesh during Financial Year 2018-19.
