Question : LPG AGENCIES IN MEGHALAYA



(a): whether the number of LPG agencies in District Khasi Hills and Jantia Hills in Meghalaya are not sufficient as per the demand and the population ratio;

(b): if so, the facts in this regard;

(c): whether advertisement for opening more LPG agencies was made;

(d): if so, the details thereof; and

(e): the steps proposed to be taken by the Government to open more LPG agencies there?

(a) to (e): As on 1.4.2000, 22 LPG distributorships are in operation in the State of Meghalaya which covers the areas of Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills where LPG connections are released across the counter. In addition to the locations pending from the previous marketing plans, 8 locations have been included for setting up of LPG distributorships for the State in the current Marketing Plan 1996-98. Locations included in the Marketing Plan are advertised and selection of the distributors are made through Dealer Selection Boards as per procedure.
For making early selection of dealers/distributors, a Dealer Selection Board has been set up for the States of Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
