(a) whether the food inflation fell to a 29 month low of 7.33 per cent for the week
ended July 16 as protein items saw moderation in the role of price increase;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the steps taken to ensure further moderation/decline in the prices of food items?

(a) & (b): Yes Madam. The WPI based inflation rate of primary food articles stood at
733 per cent for the week ended July 16, 2011. The WPI based inflation for pulses stood
at -8.01% for the week ended 16th July, 2011.
(c) : The steps taken to ensure further moderation/decline in the prices of food
items are given in Annexure I.
