Question : RELOCATION OF VILLAGES FROM SARISKA RESERVE

to the reply given to Unstarred Question No. 2741 dated December 11, 2006 regarding tiger reserves and state:

(a) whether the names of villages/families to be relocated from the areas surrounding Sariska Tiger Reserve has been finalised;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the financial assistance/compensation proposed to be provided to each family;

(c) whether the existing boundary of Sariska Tiger Reserve is also being extended towards the South-West end;

(d) if so, the future of the villages-Lawa ka bas, Jodhawas, Keeron ki dhani, Todi, Khera and Maijore;

(e) whether there is a plan to make some changes in route of State Highway No. 13 of Rajasthan passing through Sariska to protect the wildlife; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the new route would be functional from Alwar to Shahpura?

(a) to (d) No, Sir. The Wildlife Institute of India has been entrusted to assess the core areas of tiger reserves in the country, which interalia includes Sariska Tiger Reserve, where village relocation has to be undertaken.

(e) & (f) As informed by the State, the Hon’ble High Court of Rajasthan has constituted a fact finding Committee to report on the closure of State Highway No.13. The said committee has recommended for diversion of traffic in the highway from Kushalgarh to Jaipur via Chatabandrol, where an alternate road exists. The matter is subjudiced.
